Mission Accomplished!

Wow! It has been a crazy 2009! Even in the midst of a deep recession we have been able to re-open our B100 pump and sales have increased dramatically!
A big thanks to Eco-collections Systems....check out this great video of our reopening at 3121 N. Kerr Ave. in Wilmington.

This event marks a major milestone for CFB as we are now providing truly renewable biodiesel, made from locally collected waste oil to our membership. As with many projects, this success is due to the development of partnerships and would not have been possible without Triangle Biofuels and Eco-collections Systems. Together, we have worked towards the common goal of providing a high-quality, renewable fuel to citizens of southeastern North Carolina. CFB is proud to be the only provider of B100 east of I-95 in North Carolina and will continue to support the alternative fuel movement.

A big thanks also goes out to our membership, which has continually supported renewable energy in the Wilmington.

Please visit www.savebiodiesel.org to learn more about the issues surrounding new diesel emissions laws and high blend biodiesel. This petition is designed to force manufacturers to plan for biodiesel use throughout the market place.

Please take a moment to educate yourself about this issue!

Thanks.

Moving out!

After yet another false start for our fuel making pursuits.....we will be leaving Winnabow by the end of January. Permits were our downfall on this one.....note to self, check (and confirm) even the most basic of zoning regulations.

We are planning to move into New Hanover County, hopefully providing a more convenient location for our membership to utilize. While we can't compete with the plummeting prices of petro-diesel, we appreciate everyone who continues to support the our goal of providing locally produced, environmentally responsible fuel.

We also encourage anyone interested to get involved and serve as a board member!

Stay tuned to the blog for information on our new home............

****COLD FLOW ADVISORY****

Temps are heading down into the mid-30s this week. Everyone please be aware that the biodiesel in the 17th street tank is chicken fat based and has a high cloud point (~45 degrees F). Mixing with petroleum diesel to a 50/50 blend will be sufficient to counteract most cold flow issues this winter.

CFB is currently negotiating with providers to purchase fuel made with waste oil or soybean feedstock, both of which have superior cold flow properties. We will keep you posted of any and all changes as we head into winter.

Thanks for supporting local fuel!
